A new electrical substation was installed Monday, June 10, replacing two old substations. Over the next seven weeks, workers will switch electrical loads to the new substation, including all outlets and switches for the entire 118,000-square-foot space undergoing renovation.
Workers will install a new air handler in Pod #16 Thursday, June 13. Air handlers will be installed in Pods #14 and #15 by the end of the week of June 17.
A steel second deck has been added to the new Welding Technology program area. The deck will house air handling, dust collection and load center equipment for the welding shop. Work on the roof will be complete by Friday, June 14. New tar was applied to repair roof areas affected by duct and ventilation work.
New walls are going up for the new, multiuse classrooms that will be due north and adjacent to the GM ASEP and Automotive Technician program areas (Shops #5 and #6). All new flammable tanks have been installed in the Transportation area shops. Assorted demolition, plumbing and HVAC work continues.
