DeAnn Engvall is Graphic Design Technology instructor in the Visual Communications department. She began teaching full-time at DCTC in spring semester 2003.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in art education and taught in the public school system for a couple years. She earned an A.A.S. degree in graphic design technology from DCTC. Her specialty is multimedia design.
Her industry experience includes five and a half years as a multimedia designer creating print and screen graphics along with animations and flash scripting.
Regarding her teaching philosophy, DeAnn says, "Technology is always changing, but good design process and knowing how to learn never becomes obsolete. Learn what you can learn now, use it and add knowledge and skills whenever you can."
Teaching lots of highly motivated, creative people and learning something
new about herself every day is the best part of her job as a DCTC instructor.
Her hobbies and interests include reading (mostly mysteries), pottery and ceramic sculpture, home improvement projects and painting.
