Georgina is a speech and communication instructor at Dakota County Technical College. She has worked at 4 different colleges, including teaching at DCTC for more that six years.
Georgina has a Bachelor of Arts degree form the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in International Relations and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in Speech Communication. She also has experience in Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, International Education, Teaching, and 20+ years in International Education, including directing International Students and the Study Abroad Programs at the university level.
Georgina has led student, faculty, and special interest groups abroad for study and cultural immersion. She has won numerous awards for her experience, including a two-time Gold Award, Apex Award for Distinguished Contributions in Heritage Tourism, African Diaspora Tourism Award for Outstanding Cultural Heritage Educational Tours, two-time Finalist for African Business of the year.
Her favorite thing about teaching at DCTC is the wonderful students. "I have the privilege to watch from day one as they enter the class not sure what to expect. Then by the end of the semester I see how they have become more confident, learned the skills they need to improve their interpersonal relationships. Being able to observe the overall transformation in my students is priceless...the reason I teach."
Georgina loves traveling, photography, gardening, and reading. She has traveled to several countries on 5 continents and there are many more countries to experience.
She's experienced countries in West Africa, East Africa (such as Kenya and Tanzania), North Africa (such as Egypt and Morocco), Southern Africa (such as South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia). The list doesn't end there. She has also been to Brazil, Israel, Costa Rica, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, Britain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Canada, and 42 states within the United States, and probably more.
