Major Description

This program provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to succeed in leadership positions and enhances career mobility. The program is highly individualized based on a student’s interests and previous experience by completing a credit for prior learning assessment process. Students can leverage their specific technical field with the required Business Management emphasis (BUSN), and they can further explore more than one of DCTC’s programs as part of this degree.

Work Environment

Working conditions in technical management positions are typically similar to office team settings. Technical professionals fill supervisory and middle management roles in companies and corporations.

As a student in DCTC's Management Studies program, you have many opportunities to make connections in the industry through your involvement in professional clubs and organizations.

Student Clubs and Organizations

DCTC features active, industry-relevant clubs for Management for Technical Professionals students right on campus. Getting involved in these clubs allows you to make the most of your college experience and gives you an edge when seeking employment. The following clubs are open to all Management for Technical Professionals students:

Business Professionals of America (BPA)
Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in accounting, business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

Lions Club
Lions are an international network of 1.3 million people from over 200 countries who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Students will be able to help determine the types of services the club will provide based on the needs of the campus and surrounding community.

SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA is a national non-profit organization for students in trade, industrial, technical, and health occupation programs in community and technical colleges. There are nearly 100 competitions through SkillsUSA that relate to programs of study at DCTC or leadership skills. Students who compete and take first place in Minnesota will advance to nationals. Participation is SkillsUSA is a great addition to your resume!
