"I truly can't wait to move on and get more experiences in this industry, and I love that the choices are limitless."

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at DCTC and would very much consider continuing my education there. I first started out in interior design, but found that meeting and event management was better suited for me. During my time there, I was a part of the Student Senate, and eventually became the senate secretary.

I went on to graduate and was incredibly excited to start job hunting. I truly wanted to get firsthand experience to build my resume. Meeting and event management with Rosealee (Lee) was so great; she is truly a mentor to me. If there was any question about the industry, she could answer it with the experience she has because she has literally done it all! I found a job at a hotel as a front desk clerk. I remembered Rosealee stating she got her start at a hotel and built up from there. I was starting to get stable again, learning a ton, and meeting wonderful people.

Before I knew it, the position of hotel supervisor came up, and I thought I'd take a shot at it. After only five months of being there, I got the job of supervisor! I truly can't wait to move on and get more experiences in this industry, and I love that the choices are limitless.

"As an instructor, Rosealee (Lee) goes above and beyond the traditional teacher/student relationship; she respects you as an equal, and as an adult student this approach has made my experience a very positive one! "

When exploring different career paths I had the fortune of meeting with Rosealee Lee, the instructor of the Meeting and Event Management program at Dakota County Technical College. Coming from a complete health sciences background, I really had no idea or concept of what to expect with such a transition from health sciences to business-related courses.

Rosealee was extremely helpful! She provided me with insight and much needed guidance when making decisions that would help me make a less stressful and seamless transition from one area of study to another. Her years of professional experience in the field of meeting and event planning gave me the confidence in her suggestions and her encouragement throughout my experience in program.

As an instructor, Rosealee goes above and beyond the traditional teacher/student relationship; she respects you as an equal and as an adult student this approach has made my experience a very positive one!  I truly find myself very fortunate to have crossed paths with such an extraordinary woman. Through her actions and words of wisdom I feel very strongly when I state that she cares very much about the progress and success of her students.

"The Meeting & Event Management program will open your eyes to the many different areas and opportunities within the industry. As Rosealee (Lee) would say, 'The possibilities are endless!'"

After attending the “Serious Site Inspections” one-day seminar with Rosealee Lee, I was thrilled to learn that the MnSCU system had a program dedicated to event management. What I like best about DCTC are the flexible scheduling options and the ability to take both hybrid and online courses.

The networking opportunities that Rosealee Lee and the other instructors provide to their students really contribute to the overall experience of participating in the Meeting & Event Management program. You make lasting connections that otherwise would not have presented themselves.

The Meeting & Event Management program will open your eyes to the many different areas (and opportunities) within the industry. As Rosealee (Lee) would say, "The possibilities are endless!"

While it’s important to finish the program within your set timeframe/goal, I would encourage people to take their time so they get the most out of each course.
