I was nervous about going back to school after 20 years, but I actually enjoyed being a student again. Learning new things that I could immediately apply to my work was exciting. The curriculum was right on point with many of the strategies and tactics directly impacting the work I was already doing.
Everything I've learned is completely relevant to the job I do and then some. I've been able to apply so much of my work in class to real-world scenarios. I also enjoyed some of my elective classes where I was able to incorporate some fun learning subjects that I probably wouldn't have otherwise.
I'm not sure people know how robust the program offerings are at DCTC. I'm not sure if I even realized how broad the range was until you start meeting other students and learn about the programs they are in. I also feel strongly that DCTC has some of the best professors. They are relatable, open, knowledgeable, patient and all-around great people. It was a pleasure to be in their classes! I'm so grateful, every single day, that I decided to go back to school. You'll learn exactly what you'll need for a successful career in marketing!

Often a key department to the success of any business, marketing professionals work to develop strategies to meet the overall goals of the organization. Marketers can have creative or project management positions within a department because both are needed to grow an organization. Professionals tend to work under deadlines set from managers, vendors, or themselves. Travel or relocation can be part of the job. However, improved technology continues to increase telecommuting from home offices, which along with teleconferencing, has reduced travel requirements.
Employment in business marketing related fields made the top lists for best-paying careers and fastest employment growth. In Forbes, Marketing and Sales Managers made the Top 20 Best-Paying Jobs for Women in 2013 with a median annual earning of $58,000. In the latest Economic News Release from the U.S. DOL Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the business marketing field is among the top 30 occupations with the fastest projected employment growth by the year 2020. BLS: "Employment growth will be driven by an increased use of data and market research across all industries in order to understand the needs and wants of customers and measure the effectiveness of marketing and business strategies."
