Meal Voucher Information

Students will receive a voucher at check-in for a free box lunch that includes a sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie and drink. Friends and family of students can purchase a meal voucher for $6 in the café between 7:30 - 11 a.m or purchase lunch in the café.

Learn the tips from your faculty that will make you successful in your program, get any last minute questions answered, and connect with other students entering your program!

Academic Success Session

Presented by Jennifer Robinson-West, Counselor
Adjusting to the environment and demands of being a college student can be a challenge. Attending this session will help ease the transition by providing you with valuable tips on achieving academic success. Topics will include time management, decreasing stress, and simultaneously balancing your work, life, and academic career successfully.

College Support Services

Presented by Dora Schumacher, Director of TRiO
Dakota County Technical College has a wide variety of resources and support services to help you succeed in college. Attend this session to learn about the services available on campus, meet the staff that will be available to assist you, and learn how utilizing college resources can contribute to your success in college, career, and life.

DCTC GPS: Navigation Tools for the Student Journey

Presented by Patrick Lair, Director of Student Success
This session will provide new students an awareness of the online tools and information available as they begin and experience their student journey. Topics to be covered include: the college catalog, the academic calendar, StarID, eServices, DARS, D2L, and HigherOne. Like icons and symbols on a map, these necessary tools help students navigate their journey that lies ahead and to arrive successfully at their destination - GRADUATION! Get a good start to your semester and feel confident about what you know and what you can use.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Presented by Scott Roelke, Director of Financial Aid
A solid understanding of the financial aid process is extremely valuable to students. Learn how the process works, what you need to do and when, and where you can get additional information. An overview will be provided and you will have an opportunity to have your questions answered.

Student Life & Campus Tour

Presented by Current Students & Student Life Staff
Creating connections on campus is the number one contributor to student success in college, and getting involved in Student Life activities is a fabulous way to create those connections! Attend this session to learn about the clubs, organizations, activities, and leadership opportunities on campus. Current students will answer questions you have about life as a student at DCTC and will lead a campus tour.
