Frich, Steve
Steve Frich is an information systems management instructor. He began teaching at DCTC in 2003.
Steve graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern College in 1994. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator with vast industry experience, including project management positions with:
- Royal Bank of Canada
- Guidant/Boston Scientific
- Honeywell
- Tech Logic
- Cyber Advisors
He has numerous accomplishments as an IT project manager and system analyst with more than 20 years of experience in the information technology industry.
"I began my career working in engineering and with CADD systems, growing skills in the Windows Network area," he says. "I successfully designed, supported, and deployed networks from 200-3,000 servers with users upwards of 100,000.
"In addition to gaining networking skills, I have developed VB6 applications. I have enjoyed sharing my knowledge as an adjunct and full-time instructor. I have learned solid management and technical skills in the areas of network and security practices."
Steve has published works in R&D and security journals about radio frequency identification (RFID) chips.
Regarding his teaching philosophy, Steve states, "My goal is to help students achieve their career and learning goals in IT through theory, hands-on labs, and real world scenarios."
The best part of his job as a DCTC instructor is sharing the thrill of IT technology with his students. He also enjoys when students share their knowledge of technology with him.
His hobbies include cross-country skiing, camping, and fishing.
