Zimmerman, DiAnn
DiAnn Zimmerman is the director of the Practical Nursing program. She is also an instructor in the program and began teaching at DCTC in 2001.
DiAnn has a Master of Science in Nursing in nursing education and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. She also has a diploma from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Fargo, N.D.
She has served as a staff nurse in long term care, obstetrics, labor & delivery, nursery and NICU, or neonatal intensive care unit. She has also served as a nurse manager for a perinatal unit and as a nurse educator in OB/nursery and women's health.
She was a former director of education and research at Medcenter One in Bismarck and a director of education, LTC.
In 1993, DiAnn was recognized as the North Dakota Nurses' Association March of Dimes Maternal Child Nurse of the Year. A year earlier, she was honored as the Nurses' Association of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (NAACOG) Member of the Year. Previously certified in nursing administration and inpatient obstetrics, she is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Kappa Upsilon at the University of Mary
DiAnn's master's thesis was titled "Affective Response Following Hysterectomy."
As for her teaching philosophy, DiAnn says, "My role as a nurse educator is to facilitate learning so that the nursing student will be knowledgeable and qualified to provide nursing care in a safe and caring manner."
The nursing faculty and staff working as a team to provide quality nursing education for the practical nurse is the best part of her job as a DCTC instructor.
DiAnn's hobbies and interests include reading, walking and traveling.
