Built on solid leadership practices, the session focuses on personal influence, avoiding common pitfalls and identifying ways to make the most of a leadership role. The open discussion format and problem-solving exercises are an excellent way to prepare leaders for their new responsibilities. This course features an interactive setting, small class sizes, activities to reinforce key concepts and the opportunity to learn from expert facilitators and fellow students.

    Writing clearly is an important communication skill. A poorly written document or e-mail conveys a lack of professionalism and can lead to miscommunication. This course combines business writing fundamentals with important lessons on using e-mail to convey a professional image and enhance the communication process.

    For managers and others who need to use multiple communication skills
    Communication is a foundational skill for managers and leaders. Managers who can effectively communicate leverage their ability to connect and enhance their productivity of themselves and their teams. Each of the core functions of management rely on the effective application of communication. In this session, participants will learn the five key habits of effective communicators and then practice using them in context.

    Effective presentation skills play an important role in the success of a leader. Their ability to convey ideas effectively affects their ability to influence others inside and outside the organization. This course includes a review of different types of presentations and keys to developing and delivering presentations by videotaping each participant and debriefing on a one-on-one basis.

Participants will learn how to use a variety of social media outlets, as well as write a social media policy and create engaging content.

    There is no doubt that stories can change the way we think, act and feel. They have the power to break down barriers and turn a bad situation into a good one. The right story, well told, captures our imaginations and makes things real in a way that hard facts cannot. In this course, participants will learn the use of narrative to achieve a practical or tactical outcome. 

Import 101

  • Import 101
    Companies must recognize that the United States government and the governments of other countries have laws and regulations which control and impact the import of products into the United States. Compliance with these laws and regulations can be complicated. Understanding those complicities is essential for a company to be successful. Failure to comply may result in significant penalties to a Company such as, monetary losses, adverse publicity, loss of import privileges, delay or seizure of shipments, and in some cases criminal penalties (fines and jail terms). This program will provide participants with an overview of importing, an understanding of flow of the import entry process and ultimately help to lower the liability concerning import transaction. Register for this course »

    To succeed as a leader in today’s business environment means successfully managing change. Navigating the steps of the change process takes skill and commitment. In this comprehensive course, managers and other change leaders will learn how to apply each stage of the change process to their organization. Participants are encouraged to bring a current project to class that can serve as their own case study.     Innovation is the process of generating new and useful ideas. Leading innovation requires the discipline to balance creative thinkers, strategic objectives and bottom line realities. In this course, participants will review organizational objectives and bottom line realities as part of a scenario planning process.
