Steam & Hot Water Boiler Operation
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of boilermakers is projected to grow 21 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Boiler operators in Minnesota are required to be licensed through the Department of Labor. These evening courses will help prepare you to take the licensing exam. As you gain experience and higher classifications, you can increase job responsibilities and move to the next step in your career.
Steam & Hot Water Boiler I
This course covers both high and low pressure boilers used in steam and hot water heating, high-pressure, high-temperature hot water boilers used in heating or process installations, and small mechanical-drive steam turbines. This course is designed for those who want to acquire a special license or upgrade to second class A, B, or C as required by the rules and regulations of the Boiler Division of the State of Minnesota. Textbooks available for purchase the first night of the class. This course is normally offered in the fall and spring, although additional courses may be added if there is enough interest.
Steam & Hot Water Boiler II
This course covers high and low pressure boilers use in hot water supply, process and power installations, larger high-pressure/high-temperature water boilers used in the heating process, and power installation, as well as larger steam turbines used for mechanical drive and power generation. This course is designed for those who want to upgrade to first class A, B, or C license, or upgrade to a Chief A, B, or C license as required by the rules and regulations of the Boiler Division of the State of Minnesota. Textbooks available for purchase the first night of class. This course is normally offered in the fall and spring, although additional courses may be added if there is enough interest.
