Motor and Motor Control Circuit Installations

The presentation will be an interactive lecture based on the IAEI Motor and Air-Conditioning Equipment PowerPoint program based on the 2008 NEC changes, revisions, and clarifications related to motor installations.

The presentation will be augmented with three case study worksheets. Students are required to have the 2008 NEC and a calculator.

Power Quality

The presentation will cover power quality problems and their effects on electrical circuits and equipment. This class includes extensive hands-on analysis of true power, reactive power, power factor, transient voltages, and harmonics using the Fluke 43B Power Quality Analyzer.

In addition, the relation between poor grounding and bonding practices and power quality issue will be discussed.

Significant Changes to the 2008 National Electrical Code Part I

This 4-hour presentation will be an interactive lecture and discussion based on the IAEI Analysis of the 2008 NEC Changes textbook and PowerPoint presentation. The focus of the program will be on the most significant code changes.

Part I of II will cover Chapters 1-3.

The instruction will clearly distinguish between clarifications, revisions, and new requirements. Coverage and discussion of items that relate specifically to the manufacture of electrical equipment and materials will be limited.

Attendees are required to have a 2008 NEC and a calculator and will find a copy of the IAEI Analysis of the 2008 NEC Changes textbook useful.
