High School Students

Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Students

Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) is a state program that provides qualified Minnesota high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to receive both high school and college or university credit for college or university courses that are completed at Dakota County Technical College or any other regionally accredited institution in the state.

Students may be home-schooled or attend a public or nonpublic high school. They may take advanced-level courses as well as other courses not offered at their high school.

PSEO students may enroll part-time at 11 credits or less, or full-time at 12 credits or more. They are permitted to take DCTC courses on a space-available basis. Regular college students may have priority for certain programs and courses.

Eligibility

To be eligible, high school seniors must rank in the upper 50 percent of their high school class. Juniors must rank in the upper 33 percent of their high school class, or meet qualifying scores on the ACCUPLACER.

PSEO students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) are not eligible for support services at the post-secondary level. Students must receive services from their home district, or an arrangement between the district and DCTC to pay for services must be made before enrollment. Questions should be directed to Disability Services at 651-423-8469.

Qualifications

To qualify for the PSEO program at DCTC, a student must complete the following checklist:

Important Points
  • High school and college schedules often create difficulties for students trying to balance desired course schedules between schools.
  • PSEO students are required to attend all DCTC classes even if their high school is not in session.
  • PSEO is not available for summer session.
  • PSEO students are not charged for tuition, books or lab fees, but they are required to pay for non-consumable tools and equipment.
  • Books issued to PSEO students for their college courses belong to the college. These books must be returned to Student Services at end of each semester.
