Sonia

As an online student in the Marketing Design AAS program, I took classes for four years as my time would allow. During this time I have also worked three jobs and supported my three children in varying degrees. All three have been college students during the time I took classes at DCTC.

While I attending college, I also worked three jobs and supported my three children in varying degrees. Although life has thrown a few curve balls along the way, in the form of divorce and being laid off from my main job, I am determined to move forward with my plans to continue on with my education to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Online classes at DCTC have opened doors that weren’t otherwise available to me, especially as I am a student who lives three hours from the metro area. I am most definitely grateful for the opportunities online classes provide.

Just wanted to send a quick email and let you know that I am already utilizing the things I have learned in class and the semester projects in all my marketing classes.
A co worker and I have come up with a business idea (still very early stages as I would like to finish my bachelors before I even consider the idea of starting a business) and I plan on doing a survey in the near future to see how much actual market demand there would be for a business like this.

Just wanted to say thank you and compliment you on the projects that you have come up with. Keep them going; They really help in terms of real world marketing.
Thanks again,

-Justin Anderson, 2009 Marketing Program

"I just wanted to say thanks for all the great work you do and that I really felt that the courses I took at DCTC helped me in my current position with the Minnesota Child Care Resource & Referral Network. I love working in the non-profit community and I have met so many dynamic people that do a lot of great work. My job includes assisting with recruiting child care providers to take part in pilot projects, managing our social networking sites, data collection, event planning and assisting child care providers with marketing their centers/family child care programs."

"I live about two hours away from any college in rural Wisconsin. Plus, I am married with a young son. When I decided to attend college, I needed a program that was flexible to my schedule. I was happy to see DCTC offered a fully online degree in Business Marketing. Now, I work for a medical facility organizing its marketing strategies and operations."

"I spent a little time at a four-year college and decided it wasn't for me right away. That's when I enrolled at DCTC. The classes were challenging and when I was ready, I started an internship with the St. Paul Saints. When I finished my internship, I wanted to continue with sports marketing and started another internship with the Minnesota Twins. I was able to land a job with the team in Marketing Design when the internship was finished. Now I am continuing on for my four-year degree."

The education that I received from DCTC in Business Marketing provided me with the skills and tools to start my new career field. I am currently the Product Manager for a local company. My instructors and the availability of online courses from DCTC made it possible for me to obtain my degree.  Because of my busy lifestyle with my family and a full-time job, this was greatly appreciated! I highly recommend the Marketing Design program at DCTC.  It will open new doors for you too.

Sheryl adds, "DCTC is a great place for the person who is working toward their career goals and still needs to work. For flexible classes on campus and online, the college has great programs to pursue."

"When I decided to finish my education in my late 20's, a single mother with a child- I tried to find the best school to fit my needs. I had decided on marketing as my field of interest from a previous occupation, but didn't know where to start. I was sitting in an office one day and spotted a Dakota County Technical College catalog and much to my amazement it was exactly what I was looking for. Online Classes! Night Classes! A wide variety of marketing classes to pick from. Because of my interest in Design I chose the A.A.S. Marketing Design Program.

Later I got in touch with Carie Statz, marketing instructor at DCTC. She was very knowledgeable and eager to answer my questions and discuss what paths I might choose. I was nervous about starting online classes- she reassured me of my potential and urged me to try. I'm glad she did, because it was the best thing I ever did. Not only did I learn, but I learned on MY time- with the flexibility I needed.

Before I knew it I had studied marketing subjects all the way from general marketing courses to international marketing and to design websites. I feel I can get any marketing position I want with the skills I have attained. I don't know where I would be today without the instructor's encouragement and the flexibility of Dakota County Technical College! I am proud to be a graduate."
