Nanoscience Technology
NanoScience Class for High School Students
This four-day program will introduce you to the world at the molecular and atomic levels, also known as nanoscale. Research at nanoscale is changing the way we view materials science, chemistry, physics and biology.
Part lecture and part hands-on labs, NanoScience Class not only covers practical examples of how nanoscience influences our lives on a daily basis, but you'll also perform a full range of fascinating experiments and then use leading-edge instruments like atomic force and scanning tunneling microscopes to study the results of your labwork.
On Wednesday, we'll travel to the University of Minnesota to tour the Nanofabrication Center cleanroom (wearing "bunny suits") and visit the Characterization Facility, where you'll observe and operate the state-of-the-science tools used to investigate nature at nanoscale.
All you'll need for NanoScience Class is an interest in science and math plus a willingness to explore a whole new world.
