Attention: Undeclared Students

Undeclared status refers to students who wish to take courses without pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate. Undeclared students are limited to 11 or fewer credits per semester. If you meet the criteria as an undeclared student, please proceed to the Undeclared Course Registration Form.

  • Students pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate by taking courses part-time (11 or fewer credits per semester) may register online, but must complete the Admissions Checklist and confer with an academic advisor before proceeding.

Course Registration Online

Course Registration Online through Dakota County Technical College e-Services is available to students who have completed the Admissions Checklist and have been admitted to a program or major at DCTC.

Do NOT proceed if admissions staff did NOT assign you a Student ID number and PIN, which are required for Course Registration Online.

Also, do NOT proceed if you have NOT attended a required Course Advising & Registration session (CARs) and received your Access Code from your faculty or academic advisor.

  • Students are responsible for their course registration, including academic consequences related to their course schedules.
  • Students are responsible for all tuition and fee charges resulting from their course registration
  • Students are responsible for meeting the payment due dates indicated in the class schedule.

Drop Policy

Courses longer than three (3) weeks may be dropped without financial responsibility during the first five (5) class days of the semester. You will receive a full refund of money paid.

  • Note: Application fee is nonrefundable.

After five days, the drop becomes a withdrawal. Nonattendance of a course does not constitute a drop. You are required to drop a course if you do not plan to attend classes.

Students receiving financial who make changes to their credit load should contact the Financial Aid Office to determine if the change will affect their aid status.

Withdrawal Policy

If a student chooses to withdraw from a single course, there is no reduction in tuition charges or refund.

If a student chooses to withdraw from all courses for the semester, charge reduction and/or refunds will be reduced incrementally as the semester progresses.

  • You may withdraw from a course the second through 15th week of the semester by completing a Course Withdraw form.
  • A grade of "W" for withdrawal will be recorded on your permanent transcript; it will not affect your GPA.
  • If you are receiving financial aid and make changes to your credit load, you should contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to determine if the change will affect your aid status.  When filling out a course withdrawal form, you must secure a signature from financial aid before submitting it to registration.
  • If you are enrolled in courses that end before the posted withdraw date, you should withdraw before 80 percent of the course session has elapsed. You may not withdraw after a course has ended.

  • Drop and withdrawal forms are available at Student Services, or by e-mailing your specific request to registration@dctc.edu.
  • No phone calls are accepted.
