I began my undergraduate studies at the University of St. Thomas and transferred to the University of Minnesota after my first year. In 1992, as a TRiO McNair student at the U of M, I worked with Dr. Ann Masten, my former mentor. My research focused on the future aspirations of homeless children.

As a first-generation college student, I was very proud to graduate summa cum laude in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in child psychology.

In 2002, I was accepted into the Collaborative Urban Educator (CUE) program at St. Thomas. CUE is a one-year, intensive alternative licensure graduate program. I received my K-8 teaching license in June 2003.

That same year in October, I began working at DCTC asour Upward Bound program's assistant director.

Many knowledgeable and caring mentors have helped me succeed in my academic endeavors. I am very happy to have the opportunity to use my knowledge and experience to help other young people pursue their dreams of higher education.
