Graduate Stories

Heather Marty, CMA

Troy HansonWhat influenced your decision to enroll in our program?
I was working two jobs and wasn’t happy and knew it was time for a change.  I went to DCTC during a College Information Night, met Patrice Nadeau (awesome lady!), and found out about the program.  I’ve always loved working with people, this program wasn’t super long and I could always continue school if desired.  My mother had been a nurse’s aid for many years as well.

Dates you were in program.
1/2002 - 5/2003

Any highlights or memories that you want to share?
School was difficult for me and Margaret and Patrice were always there to listen!  I met a lot of great people while attending classes and the teachers were fantastic!  Very down to earth people and very encouraging, they were not only teachers, but friends.  I have test anxiety so bad and they helped me through it!

What are you doing now?
I’ve been at Allina Medical Clinic - Hastings as a CMA working with a family practice physician since 5/2003.  I absolutely love it!  It’s one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made.  I’m hoping to return to DCTC and earn a license for practical nursing. I want to continue to work in a clinic setting.
