What to Do, What to Expect
Apply for Financial Aid
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the required application for all federal and state aid awarded at DCTC. Be sure to enter Dakota County Technical College, Rosemount, MN and school code 010402, in the college section of the FAFSA. You may apply online using your PIN at www.fafsa.ed.gov. (both dependent student and one parent need a PIN)
Apply for Admission
Prospective students must complete a DCTC Application for Admission, be admitted to the college, and be enrolled in an approved program of study before financial aid will be awarded. More information regarding the admissions process is available on the Admissions Checklist.
Receive Your SAR
You should receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in approximately 3 days if you apply online, sign using your PIN(s), and supply a valid email address. It takes approximately four weeks to receive the SAR if you mail a paper FAFSA. The SAR is a summary of the information that you provided on the FAFSA. Review the SAR carefully! If there are corrections to be made, contact the DCTC Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for assistance.
Receive a Financial Aid Award Letter
Your Financial Aid Award Letter will list the amount of scholarships, grants, workstudy, and loans for which you qualify. Students will receive an estimated financial aid award letter after their FAFSA is processed and verification documents, if any are required, are received. The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid will begin issuing award letters for the 2006-2007 award year at the beginning of April, 2006.
