Earn Your 4-Year Degree At DCTC

Southwest Minnesota State University

We have entered into a partnership with Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) to offer three completion degrees. The programs being offered are

  1. BS - Business Administration with a Management Emphasis
  2. BAS - Management, and
  3. BS - Early Childhood Education *

* graduates from this program will be able to be certified to teach birth to 3rd grade.

General Information:

All three of the programs are built upon an Associate degree in a related program. Here is a list of programs that are directly related; there may be other programs that would work as well.

BS in Business Administration or BAS in Management

These programs listed below are related:

  • AAS Accounting
  • AS Business
  • AAS Executive Administrative Assistant
  • AAS Industrial Distribution
  • AAS Business Marketing Specialist
  • AAS Medical Administrative Assistant/Transcriptionist
  • AAS Real Estate/Property Management
  • AAS Supervisory Management
BS is Early Childhood Education

These programs listed below are related:

  • AAS Child Development
  • AS Child Development
General Information for SMSU Bachelor Degrees
  • Completion of an AS or AAS degree (or at least 64 credits) in a related field to enter program. While it is preferred, students do not need to be DCTC graduates
  • Student may be admitted and taking classes from both DCTC and SMSU at the same time
  • Students will complete a minimum of 128 Semester Hour Credits with a Grade Point Average of 2.0 (some programs require a higher GPA)
  • Financial Aid is available for students who qualify
  • Classes will be delivered through I-TV, Online (hybrid), or face to face. Students will not need to travel to SMSU unless they want to participate in graduation ceremonies.
  • An advisor is available on DCTC's campus for help with registration, course planning, etc
