Chess Club

The DCTC Chess Club allows novices and experts alike to learn how to play chess, improve their game, develop new strategies, or engage in friendly competition.

Those interested in joining the club are welcome to do so at anytime by contacting Steve Bezanson, club advisor, or Peter Thai, Chess Club president.

Q: What is Chess Club?
A: Chess club is an opportunity to learn new strategies, improve your game, and compete with other players from DCTC or other schools.

 

Q: Do I need to know how to play chess now in order to join Chess Club?
A: No. We welcome anyone with an interest in the game to join us. We will provide the learning opportunities.

 

Q: Does the Chess Club participate in tournaments?
A: The Chess Club has an inter-club tournament at the end of each month. We are also working on setting up tournaments with other schools, and we are planning to take part in the State Chess Association.

 

Q: Are chessboards and other chess equipment available through the Chess Club?
A: The Chess Club currently has ten chessboards and plans to purchase more as the club grows.

 

Q: When does the Chess Club meet to play?
A: Meetings are scheduled for every other Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Central Commons area.

 

Q: Do members get any special benefits?
A: In addition to the opportunity to play on a regular basis, each member will receive a Chess Club sweater.
