Kate McMenomy has been a science tutor at DCTC since 2007. She serves as both science tutor and laboratory manager. As a science tutor she works with students in biology, anatomy, microbiology, medical terminology, chemistry and environmental science...essentially any science class where a student needs additional help.
Kate holds a Masters of Arts in Education from Hamline University and a Bachelor of Teaching in Life Science as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has earned an EKG Technician certification as well as a Certified Medical Assistant A.A.S degree.
Prior to working at DCTC she was a science teacher in the Burnsville School District for 13 years. Kate was the Teacher of the Year in 1998 and received Teacher Recognition in 2002 from the Eagan Rotary.
"My work with the Burnsville School District allowed me the opportunity to expand my teaching techniques and work with a variety of learning styles." Kate notes. "I continue to improve my teaching techniques by taking classes that increase my scope of knowledge and keep me up-to-date with related healthcare fields."
Kate enjoys attending Minnesota Education Conferences and Medical Assisting Conferences, has worked as a Science Olympiad Coach and volunteered at the Minnesota Zoo in their interpretive program.
