Since its founding in 1983, the DCTC Foundation has awarded nearly $2.8 million in scholarship funds for students with outstanding academic aptitude and financial need. Today the Foundation helps more than 400 students per year with scholarships, microgrants, academic program enhancements, emergency grants and other financial assistance.
Established in 1983 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the DCTC Foundation functions as an avenue for gifts and grants that benefit the college and our students. By providing resources to students, the college and our programs. Our mission is to foster student success and elevate the academic experience at Dakota County Technical College by securing resources through strong partnerships with employers, alumni, and the community.
The Foundation is governed by a board of directors with up to 18 members. Over the years, the Foundation has generated more than $3.2 million in financial assistance for students while building a general endowment fund and establishing private endowment funds. Additionally, the Foundation has received in-kind donations for equipment, tools, and supplies used in many DCTC programs.
Students pursuing higher education today face mounting financial challenges as state assistance continues to decline and inflation soars. During a typical year, the Foundation provides financial support to more than 500 DCTC students, helping them pay for direct and indirect costs of their education — tuition, books, tools, groceries, housing and utilities, transportation, and unanticipated expenses.
Your contributions—whether as a friend of the college, an alumnus or alumna, or as a business representative—provide students with the opportunity to learn, challenge themselves, and obtain self-sufficiency by securing a rewarding career. Every gift and grant, no matter the amount, makes a world of difference.
Each year the DCTC Foundation sponsors an Employee Giving campaign to allow employees to help make a difference in student lives. Funds are used for student scholarships.
