Annette is passionate about the hospitality industry. It began with her first job out of high school when she worked as a waitress in a small town café. She worked her way through school in a variety of restaurants and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Restaurant Management. Immediately after graduation she began working in the hospitality field. Then there were a series of twists and turns and she found herself working in other industries, but always dreamed of returning to hospitality, which she did when she started an event planning company. Annette has planned a wide variety of events from galas and awards banquets to educational meetings and fundraisers. “I love the challenges and rewards that every event presents. Hospitality for me is a very exhilarating.”
Annette is an adjunct instructor for the Hospitality and Event Management program at Dakota County Technical College. In this role she has the opportunity to share what she has learned in her nearly 15 years in the hospitality industry. “I love interacting with the students as they share their own enthusiasm for hospitality. To say nothing of what I learn from them.” Annette is not only an adjunct instructor, but also a former student, having received a Certificate of Meeting and Event Management from DCTC.
In addition to planning events and teaching, Annette is an active member of a variety of nonprofit and professional organizations in Lincoln NE, where she now lives. She is a founding member of EventLNK, a Lincoln networking organization for hospitality professionals. After moving to Lincoln from the Minneapolis area, she searched for a hospitality organization to join. The closest ones she could find required up to a three hour drive each way to attend monthly meetings. A colleague, also looking for a way to network, called and asked if she would be interested putting together a small group of other hospitably professionals to establish a networking organization in Lincoln. Of course, the answer was yes, and EventLNK was born.
