Joseph Campbell is a general education English instructor. He began teaching at DCTC in 2002.
Joe has a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Colorado State University, and a master's degree in English from California State University, Los Angeles. He also has his bachelor's in film and business from the University of Minnesota.

His published works include the short story "Carp," which appeared in The William and Mary Review in 1999.
"In my classes, I make a real effort to balance high standards with encouragement," says Joe, regarding his teaching philosophy. "I find that it helps to let students know that I take them seriously on an intellectual level.
"If students haven't had to take responsibility for their own intellectual abilities before entering my class, they may experience a little discomfort at first. In the end, however, they are often surprised at just how competent they have become."
He enjoys student diversity on campus and lists DCTC as the most enjoyable place that he has ever taught.
Joe's hobbies include golf and triathlons. He also enjoys reading, especially fiction, biographies, and history.
