Mike Nelson is an Information Systems Technology Instructor and has been teaching at DCTC on a part-time basis since Fall semester 2019.
Mike is also a graduate of DCTC, earning Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degrees with Distinction in both Software Development and Network Administration. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science with Distinction at Concordia University, St. Paul.
Mike has worked in a variety of roles in both IT Operations and Software Development. Along with teaching at DCTC and Inver Hills, he is currently a Senior Systems Developer at Compeer Financial, a Farm Credit association.
Personal interests and hobbies include hiking, vacationing with family, automating “whatever possible”, riding his One Wheel, and 3D Printing.
Teaching at DCTC is especially meaningful to Mike because he can directly contribute to people’s lives who are walking on the same path that he has. “I personally identify with the challenges many of them face as working adults,” he said, “burning the candle at both ends to achieve, succeed, and advance.”
