Torry Jeranek is the new Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning program instructor. This is the first year that DCTC is offering this program. Torry is excited to be a part of it; "I'm looking forward to working with the students at DCTC and watching them work towards their career goals. This is a high-demand field that is looking for good employees."
After serving in the Navy from 1987 until 1991, Torry graduated from Western Technical College HVAC/R diploma program in 1993. He was employed as a service technician after graduation where he serviced and repaired residential and commercial HVAC equipment and also assisted with installations. In 2003 he was employed as a HVAC/R instructor at Minnesota State College Southeast Technical until 2015, when he accepted the position with DCTC.
At Minnesota State College Southeast Technical, Torry created curriculum and provided classroom and hands-on lab supervision. He was a member of the college's safety committee, Academic Affairs and Standards Committee, Faculty Shared Governance and several Academic Quality Improvement Program — a nationwide initiative, adopted by many Minnesota State institutions to promote continuous improvement of their academic programs. He also served as a local union representative.
Torry has certifications and licenses with the EPA Section 608 and Section 609 Refrigerant Handling, State of Minnesota Power Limited Technician, State of Minnesota Special Engineer boiler license, North American Technician Excellence and is a Certified Solar Thermal instructor through the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.
In his free time, Torry likes to spend time with his wife and three daughters, golfing, fishing, hunting and doing home improvement projects.
