"No matter how old you are, continuing your education develops new cells in brain areas used for learning and forms new brain connections to protect against diseases like Alzheimer's disease and stroke. Plus, taking college classes gives opportunities to form new relationships, also known to protect our aging brains."
- Dr. Barbara Curchack, Dean of Liberal Arts at Inver Hills and former neuropsychologist
If there is space available in a course, seniors can register and pay only $20 per credit in administration fees plus student fees, minus the Student Life fee. Senior registrations are taken starting the second day of each semester. See current fees here.
Senior Citizens are also responsible for any additional materials or textbooks for courses.
If a senior wants to “audit” a course – which means attending but not taking tests, being graded or earning college credit – there is no administration fee. Auditing students will be charged for parking, health, and course fees. See current fees here.
Students auditing a class must still attend and participate as required by the instructor. If you want to audit, fill out the Alternative Grading Form. An email from the instructor can be used to signify their approval.
Senior Citizens are also responsible for any additional materials or textbooks for courses.
