    This course includes basic theory of torque converters, planetary gears, clutches, bands, and hydraulics. The class stresses how automatic transmissions and transaxles work and how to repair them. Prerequisites: AUTM 1003 and 1013

    1. Complete work order to include customer information, vehicle identifying information, customer concern, related service history, cause, and correction
    2. Diagnose, test, inspect, measure, adjust, assemble, or replace automatic transmission components
    3. Locate and interpret vehicle and major component identification numbers (VIN), vehicle certification labels, calibration decals)
    4. Removal, disassembly, and reinstallation
    5. Research applicable vehicle and service information, such as automatic transmission system operation, fluid type, vehicle service history, service precautions, and technical service bulletins
    6. Service transmission; perform visual inspection; replace fluids and filters
