Reporting a Crime

Steps for reporting a crime:

1. Call 911 in an emergency or if the crime is in progress. An emergency involves danger to a person's safety or property.
   1. If the crime is in progress, call 911.
   2. If the crime has already occurred and an officer is needed to respond, call 911 or 651-322-2323 to report it to the Dakota Communication Center.
2. Call Campus Security at 651-423-8388. Another option is to go to the Safety and Security Department to report the inappropriate conduct and/or criminal activity in person. The Safety and Security Department cannot hold reports of crime in confidence.
